One of the perks of being a “social butterfly” is the wide variety of people you meet online. Yesterday we had a rainstorm move through the area, a Facebook friend (who, although I have purchased her homemade cupcakes, have never met her in person!) posted on my wall asking if I knew a roofer. Early on a Sunday morning, I would never call anyone, but it was easy to send a message on Facebook to a builder friend. He responded within the hour with a name and number and I was able to pass it on. That is an example of the value of a network!
But wait! There’s more! One of the ideas I had during the evolution of this blog was creating a logo. While my technical skills can be magical, I will be the first to admit my creativity skills are below par. Must be a left brain/right brain thing!
This is where Alec Archibald of RCON Painting came in. I have “known” Alec online via a popular forum we both contribute to, Paint Talk. On that forum, we had had discussions about logo creations and I saw then that he had a talent for it. So I reached out to him and found out he was in the midst of launching a graphics design company (a future blog coming). I told him my vision for this blog and sent him a link, giving him fee rein. He quickly sent some proofs, I was amazed at how well he captured the very feel I wanted (and I didn’t even know what I wanted) in the first draft. I picked my favorite one and he tweaked it a bit and sent me the files. A big thanks to Alec for all he did, with that type of creativity and customer service, I know his new venture will be successful.
Introducing the new Blogging Painters logo, what do you think?
